I
am an experienced freelance writer whose work has appeared
in leading national newspapers including the Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette,
Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Boston Globe, Christian
Science Monitor, Columbus
Dispatch, Fort
Worth Star-Telegram, Miami Herald, and Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette, and in magazines including, among
many others, American Lawyer, Family Circle, Family Life,
Runner's World,
The Writer, Wine Spectator, and Woman's Day.
My
writing specialties include travel, food and wine, women's issues,
health, and business and social etiquette. I write books,
full-length features, essays, and humor pieces. My poetry
has appeared in literary journals and anthologies, and
has received several awards. I also provide comprehensive
editing services to other writers and to businesses
and educational institutions.
At writers' conferences
and conventions I speak on a variety of topics ranging from breaking into print
to travel writing and the art of the essay. For almost ten years I taught freelance
magazine journalism at the State University of New York at Binghamton as a
member of the adjunct faculty. I've also helped many writers launch their careers
through private tutoring.
I hold a BA
from the University of New Hampshire and an MA from the State University of New
York at Binghamton. I am a member of the American Society
of Journalists and Authors, The Editorial Freelancers Association, and Maine
Writers and Publishers Alliance. |
